Monday was meeting night!
Ya, i couldn’t come up with a better title than that one guys sorry!
This past Monday, February 21, was our monthly meeting night and we had 32 members that were able to attend! We answered roll call to the question of “What is our favorite color for fabrics when we quilt” Membership Chairman, Karen R. handed out new Guild Member Books that contain all the contact information for our current guild members. Thanks Karen for all the work that you put into this helpful booklet!
We talked about scheduling a upcoming retreat at the Threads of Time in Danville IL. The guild took a retreat there last fall and it was a unanimous decision that we go back again. Guild member Connie T. is in charge of the retreat so please contact her for information or attend next months guild night meeting!
Sue W., Joyce C., and Bev E. went fabric shopping with the money from our December White Elephant sale. The were able to purchase fabrics for the guild members to use for making charity Quilts for Project Linus & the local W.I.C. program. Big thanks for doing the “difficult” job of shopping for fabric ladies! :0)
Project Linus Coordinator Sharon S. has asked that if anyone uses the last of the batting, that is stored at the First Christan Church for Project Linus use, to please contact her so she can be sure to bring more batting in. Sharon also wanted to let everyone know that there will be a Bake Sale on March 25th at the Fifth Third Bank, (next to the Effingham Post office) with all money donated going to Project Linus. If you are interested in helping out with the back sale by donating a baked item please contact Sharon S. for more information.
A number of guild members took advantage of the Bargello Quilt Class offered by Project Chairman Sue W. Many of the quilts were brought for show and tell.

On Monday Afternoon at 12:30 the Crossroads Harvest of Quilts show meeting was held at Joe Sipper’s. The entry form for the show was discussed and Karen R. will be finalizing the forms details and checking over Beth’s horrible spelling. As soon as the form is ready I will be sure to add it as a downloadable PDF file here on the blog!
The Show will be held in a new location this year, The Keller Convention Center. The center has been measured and remeasured and it is believed we will have enough room for 148 Queen sized quilts. Please remember not all the quilts in the show are queen sized so we should be able to display around the same amount of quilts as we normally do. Guild member Kathy S.’s husband thoughtfully drew up a great set of floor plans for us to use to set up the show, including little tiny cutouts of the tables so we can move them around, thanks so much Steve!
Rita N. will be in charge of this years Bed Turning at the show, she and her helpers have decided on a Sunbonnet Sue theme for this year. If you have a Sunbonnet Sue quilt of any kind, that you are willing to share during the show please contact Rita for more info.
Next months Quilt Show meeting will be held March 21st and will be located at St.John’s Lutheran Church, 901 West Jefferson Avenue, Effingham at 12:30. Any and All guild members are welcome to attend and discus this years upcoming show. Feel free to bring your lunch along and join us! For more info on the show meeting contact Marilyn S. or Beth K.
The March Guild Meeting will be on March 21st, at The First Christan Church, starting promptly at 6:30pm. Please loo for you guild newsletter for more info on the meeting nights program!
Keep Quilting everyone, and i hope to see you all at next months meeting!
